Any Long Islanders out there?
Are any of you guys from Long Island, NY? Nassau county? Suffolk County?
Re: Any Long Islanders out there?
I'm not from Long Island, I live in NYC and considering buying ants from you, however I'm not sure if they grow fast enough or fit for a beginner
Re: Any Long Islanders out there?
I have Camponotus chromaiodes, which are great for beginners but grow slowly. I also have Aphaenogaster, which I have no experience with so I don't know how fast it goes. I have some other ants, including Nylanderia Flavipes, which seems to grow pretty fast. They're very small ants though. I also have little experience with them. Check out the Great Neck GAN farmer under "queen ants for sale" on the AntsCanada website if you want more information.FlameofOsiris wrote:I'm not from Long Island, I live in NYC and considering buying ants from you, however I'm not sure if they grow fast enough or fit for a beginner

I'm not really old enough to go all the way out to LI to get ants, so perhaps we could set up a middle point or rendezvous point?MCWren wrote:I have Camponotus chromaiodes, which are great for beginners but grow slowly. Re: Any Long Islanders out there?
Great Neck is the first town outside of Queens. It's really close to the city, considering its right over the queens border. What borough are you in? Couldn't one of your parents drive you, or take the train with you?FlameofOsiris wrote:I'm not really old enough to go all the way out to LI to get ants, so perhaps we could set up a middle point or rendezvous point?MCWren wrote:I have Camponotus chromaiodes, which are great for beginners but grow slowly. Re: Any Long Islanders out there?
Oh wow, I didn't know you were so close, guess I got it mixed up with another long island city.
Scratch the rendezvous point, you're around 45 min. away, that shouldn't be a problem

Ok, contact me through the GAN project. Send them an email saying you're interested in one of my colonies. If you are interested, that is.FlameofOsiris wrote:Oh wow, I didn't know you were so close, guess I got it mixed up with another long island city.

Re: Any Long Islanders out there?
How exactly does one pay for the ants, can you pay in cash or are you required with credit?
Re: Any Long Islanders out there?
Also, how much longer can your ants stay in the test tube as a formicarium? I need a good estimate, like 3,4 weeks, months etc.
Re: Any Long Islanders out there?
This is my third consecutive post, are you dead or something?
Anyways, have your ant colonies grown much? I see for your Nylandria flavpipes is listed as 10-30 workers. I'd probably buy in the next 1-3 weeks, will the price and the size of the test tube setup increase in that period or will it stay the same?
Please reply, I need answers very soon
