Whats this tube under princesses wings?

The red and black ants are Formica Subintegra, the black princess is a different type of Formica.

I gave them pupae from another colony and they adopted them, most the pupae were princesses (so far).

As you can see in the picture there is a tube like object under the princesses wings.

I'm really confused and could use some help.

Very interesting, not sure what it is. Looks similar to wasp eggs that I have seen on certain caterpillars. Really no clue other than that though.

ive had solenopsis sp. eggs turn into funny shapes like this before. turned out it was just a weird egg they ended up eating or something after it grew up all bloated. never seen them hatch into anything though.

I'm fairly sure it wasn't an egg because the colony is very new.

Sadly I'm pretty sure they murdered the princess because i cant find her.

I have a short video of her though

That is weird :o Could it be her guts?
With all the things ants can do, you wonder, who rules the planet :?

 naaa, its an egg of sorts. ive seen and had queens have them before. it may have not been noticed at first, then they grow, and you notice them. im not sure of its purpose, but it for sure gets laid by queen ants, then taken care of like an egg. ive never seen them hatch or anything, just seen them grow and get eaten.

I'm no ant expert but I really dont think it was an egg unless eggs can grow to that size in a matter of days.

yes they can do this in a very short time.
this one did it in less than a day. (on the right) it was a tube as long as the queen at first,(looked just like yours) then it turned into this, then they ate it. if you look on the left, you will see the tiny eggs size at which this one started.
