Haha yeah. The biggest major is already almost the size of the queen.

Ponera pennsylvanica and Solenopsis molesta do that as well. Ponera workers simply curl up and fall on their sides.Jadeninja9 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 06, 2017 11:15 pmI was feeding them just moments ago, and I noticed that the entire colony was frozen. I put a piece of toilet paper on the test tube and kept it there for about 20 seconds. I could sorta peek under the toilet paper and could see they were moving again. I removed the toilet paper and they froze up again lol. They were perfectly still too. I guess my colony and/or species plays dead when faced with a threat. I never even knew ants could do that.

They're doing really good I moved them into an AC small camponotus hybrid nest with the AntsCanada starter pack. I'm just too busy to do any updates.

Update: (Jan 12, 2019)
Okay, so, it's been a really long time since I've updated this journal. Here's a quick summary of everything that has happened since the last update in June. Back in July, I moved the colony into an AntsCanada Small Camponotus Hybrid Nest that I bought back in 2017, and they've been doing great. The nice thing about this species is that they're nests require no hydration, so all you gotta do is supply them with a tube of water in the outworld and they're set. Nothing much has really happened since I've moved them. I'd assume they're over 100 workers by now. It's pretty cool too be able to sit at my desk, look to my left, and see workers running through the tubes. Sooooo yep. Here are some pictures:
Also, R.I.P. to colony pictures with good lighting.
