Ant Queen Egg Problem

Post: # 34422Post Firecatto21

Last autumn my recently captred ant queen started laying eggs. I would check on her every week too find her with loads of small eggs, the problem is that she would always have small eggs meaning that she would eat them and lay them again. The only thing I can think of as of now is that my vacuum cleaner had been disturbing her. Now it is about time she stops hibernating and this time I want her to lay eggs that will eventually become her first ant workers

i bet plenty of air can get in there trough the cracks and other places and even if it does not, your queen would have a lot of air. even 1 foot of space would give her a lot of air. air is sometimes a problem but we are still talking ants here they are small and don't need much air. :D

Outside of my house, in the sun, at around mid day it can get really hot. I am worried it may be too hot for my ant queen underneath my bed but i have learned in science tyat air is a good insulator so it should prevent most of the heat from enetering... The sun only shines on my bed during the morning, till about 1 o'clock after that my bed receives no direct sunlight

well the sun shined on my dresser almost the whole day and i kept my ants in there. i think the warmth would be good for your ants. why ant keepers say keep your ants out of the sun is because in the test tube the sun can come in but the heat gets trapped making a green house effect making the test tube over 100 degrees most of the time. your bed should be OK because the heat can escape. also heat is good for your ants most of the time. just not too much.
