hay people of ac, i will not believe what just happend, a queen ant just landed on my hand. after it climbing over my hand for about five or so minutes, it turned its head round and tore off its wings. so i placed it in a test tube, except i do not know what spp it is, please help. it is smaller than a iridimrmex queen and looks like a male, but the gastris is to big. so yea. its a really calm ant, probably the calmest ive had, and seems happy in the test tube. thx antRlife.

It's annoying because photo bucket isn't working for me, do you have any other suggestions? And it's around 1 and a half millimetres in length with half a millimetre wide, brownish-black
with cream collour band around its gastris, the smallest ant I've seen besides a iridimrmex male, thx.

Any image host other than photobucket should work fine. Was the queen actually measured, or is that a guess?

A guess is equivalent in value to no measurement at all. I can't tell much from the photographs, but she is in the Myrmicinae subfamily. Maybe Monomorium, maybe Cardiocondyla, maybe Pheidole.

i was just having a look at those spp, i think its a cardiocondyla just by the color and shape of the gastris.

It takes more than that to identify an ant, but guessing is the best you can do for now, unless you can provide clearer photos AND a real measurement (even if they are farther away).
