This ant is caught in my neighborhood in OKC/Moore, OK, on September 29.
Length is about 4-5 mm long and has a fuzzy body.
It looks like there are 2 petiole separating the gaster and mesosoma.

...I'm not sure if this is natural but the ant seems to be unresponsive now. not gripping onto the test tube so that if the tube is turn the ant falls. legs still moves sometimes but it's individually and sluggish...

perhaps not even an ant. does it ever elbow its antennas? from all the pictures it is curved, not elbowed. But definitely not a queen.

Unfortunately, by the time I woke up this morning the ant was dead.
I'm not quite sure what you mean by elbowing its antennas... they bend near the head area but otherwise they seem like they just curve.
