hey maybe the making of new genus inspired hybrid nest is like using gel farm then put the test subject ant but i have question since the gel farm has nutrition do they digging like crazy because we can use gelfarm for hybrid nest making on new ant like odontomachus
Re: idea
Gel farms have been known to kill colonies. There is something toxic about them that is not healthy for ants. They are not for long term ant keeping, only short term. Colonies will die in gel farms.

i mean like we have a test subject worker then they dig in gelfarm do they dig normally in the wild or no because we can make hybrid nest out of it

Sorry madhayardan. I'm not sure what you are getting at. I don't understand what your idea is.madhayardan wrote: ↑Wed Sep 06, 2017 1:35 ami mean like we have a test subject worker then they dig in gelfarm do they dig normally in the wild or no because we can make hybrid nest out of it

I think he's saying that you could put some workers of the species you want to make a hybrid nest for in a gelfarm, observe how they make their nests, how the chambers look, etc, and try to replicate that design on an AC hybrid nest.ooper01 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 06, 2017 10:40 amSorry madhayardan. Re: idea
Thanks for the translation That may work. The main problem I see with it is that hybrid nests are horizontal and gel farms are vertical. I suppose you could lay the gel farm down in a horizontal position and see how they dig. We have used photos on the internet to determine nest layout and it has been pretty good for us.Jadeninja9 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 06, 2017 5:39 pmI think he's saying that you could put some workers of the species you want to make a hybrid nest for in a gelfarm, observe how they make their nests, how the chambers look, etc, and try to replicate that design on an AC hybrid nest.ooper01 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 06, 2017 10:40 amSorry madhayardan. Re: idea
It's a great idea! Too bad we didn't think of it 3 years ago when we were making the designs for the Hybrid series! We aren't planning on any new nest design at the moment though.
