Merging colonies isn't really a thing. There are some rare, anecdotal accounts of people who have done this with supercolony strains (a members species which is known to be polygynous will instead often be monogynous) but nobody who cares about their colonies wants to risk something like that.
If you enjoy my expertise and identifications, please do not put wild populations at risk of disease by releasing pet colonies. We are responsible to give our pets the best care we can manage for the rest of their lives.
