Some weird behaviour from my Lasius niger colony.
Over the last 10 minutes or so they've started carrying cocoons out to one of their water tubes, are they trying to move into it or is there another reason for the move?
Abandon nest?

Yep, apparently they've decided to use it as a nesting chamber
Out comes the bright light, dont want them nesting in there

Don't force your colonies to move. Instead, make their intended nest as comfy as this test tube.

It was more a case of stopping them getting settled rather than forcing them to move. There was still a lot of back and forth with the cocoons so I just nudged them into deciding it wasnt a good place to nest after all
I've changed the water tube now anyway. It's almost full so if they do decide to move into that one it should have enough water to see them through
