is a fish tank for solenopsis invicta better than a plastic tub? and is it better to use dirt than a fromicarium

You'll have hard time attaching the glass tank to anything else because for plastic you just drill a hole whenever

And it's said it's more natural to have the ants dig in soil than having them in a formicarium but they will also be harder to study

You can drill all glass tanks. But you need to be 100% sure that it is all glass.

Solenopsis invicta definitely needs something that can be expanded. They have a habbit of rapidly exploding out of their setups.
They'll probably like soil most but can live in other nests as well as long as they're humid enough.
