Re: Pennsylvania Nuptial Flight
They fly in spring. June at the latest.
Re: Pennsylvania Nuptial Flight
Not true at all. For example, I just caught a queen today, and a few weeks ago, caught three different species of ants. Lasius neoniger, Crematogaster lineolata, Solenopsis molesta
Re: Pennsylvania Nuptial Flight
For the first time in weeks it's 70 degrees where I live. Going to go see what I can find. But I am thinking of waiting until spring to resume looking.
Re: Pennsylvania Nuptial Flight
If the rains hold off this afternoon keep a lookout for Prenolepis Imparis queens. I caught 8 of them last friday feb. 24th...the earliest I've ever seen them fly in southeastern pa!

Re: Pennsylvania Nuptial Flight
After about a 10 mile hike today I have found nothing. Earlier this week I have found Lasius Interjectus in Rothrock and a camponotus drone. Which both are pointless to have. Anyone else find anything?
Re: Pennsylvania Nuptial Flight
Haven't found anything in my last week of walking around, checked some woods near me but it was too overgrown to look well for queens. Sidewalks and parks yield nothing, anyone else in or around PA having any luck? What is your strategy for finding them?
Re: Pennsylvania Nuptial Flight
So far for the season I have 2 campos and 50 tetra, waiting for Pheidole to fly!
