Nuptial Flights in Ipoh
Does anybody know the nuptial flights in Ipoh, Malaysia? Also, when should I go and look for queen ants, after rain or dry, day or night?
I have found more queens!
-Polyrhachis laevissima (left only queen)
-Pheidole parva (TOO MUCH)
-Iridomyrmex Anceps
-Polyrhachis dives
Hope to catch camponotus soon...

I heard that, to find newly mated queens in tropical area search in the night as during the day it is very hot. You should search after more than 3 hours of rain.

Well, thats a coincidence. I literally went to Ipoh yesterday but found nothing. You have to wait until rain to find queen ants.
Although AC said in his video that Camponotus flight start at August and end in December, you can actually find them year round, it's just that the majority of their flights happen from August to December.Polyrhachiskeeper wrote: ↑Mon Jul 18, 2022 4:16 amThe nuptial flights of Carpenter ants (Camponotus sp.) are begining in august and end in december

Re: Nuptial Flights in Ipoh
Its October now. From August to December I haven't found any camponotus. Maybe they fly very late. Every time I finish anting and gone into my house again I will see big insects flying, bigger than pheidole parva. So maybe those are camponotus? Hopefully I can find camponotus. Thanks everyone.

If you have pictures, they would be useful for identification. Also try searching at night at lights.AntsAreCool715 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 30, 2023 8:30 amIts October now. I recommend looking for ants swarming on warm, humid evenings after a rainstorm.
With great power comes great responsibilities. https://wordleunlimited.online/
