Help identifying queen ant!
So I found this queen ant in my yard today and it’s bright reddish orange and I’ve never seen a queen like that in Maine where I live. So I was wondering if you guys might know what species it is.

Hello! There are quite a few possibilities, but you'll have to upload a picture to get an ID.

Ah! Interesting. Lasius interjectus, a social parasite. I haven't seen these in Maine yet.

So there is no way that I could form a colony with it right?

Not without host workers introduced through one of the procedures I listed. Not impossible, though.

Ok I’ll just release it then and care for the tetramorium queen I have. Thanks for the info.
