Camponotus castaneus queen first egg laying
Hey I recently acquired my new camponotus castaneus queen and wanted some information on how long do this species take to lay there first eggs, do they hibernate and what is the best temperature to keep it at durring this time
Re: Camponotus castaneus queen first egg laying
If you get winter where you caught it then it will need to be hibernated - for example Florida probably not but farther north like New York, definitely.
It will probably lay eggs 1-2 weeks after you catch it and it takes about 2 months to go from egg to worker. Not too sure on temperature, but if you place part of the test tube over a heating cable/pad that may help to speed up brood development.
