I know this topic has already been created, but I thought I would make a new one so the newer members can vote too.
Please also say why you voted for the genus you did.

I think Tetramorium immigrans, as they eat almost anything, and are easy to care for. They also grow quickly, so beginners wont get bored.

Well, all these are great options if you live in North America, Europe, or Northern Asia but down here in Southeast Asia, the most common beginner species are all from the genus Camponotus except for a few others that are common such as Pheidole parva, Nylanderia, and occasionally Iridomyrmex anceps but all these besides Camponotus are not kept as much mainly because they are small and not that cool. There is no Formica and Lasius here and all Tetramorium that live here are semi-claustral. I chose Camponotus because there is really not any other species that lives here that are as beginner friendly as Camponotus. And not only are Camponotus that live here are rather large, there are many species that look very cool, a few examples include: C. parius which has a golden silver sheen on them, C. nicobarensis which is red and has yellow and black markings on their gasters, and C. singularis which grows way slower than the other ones because they are larger but they are also mostly black with silver sheen and they have red heads. Don't count Dinomyrmex since they're not excatly beginner friendly.

I chose tetramorium cuz all the camponotus here are blood thirsty and will kill you first chance they get. Also tetramorium are cool and some play dead so maintenance is super easy

Probably Pheidole or capontus.
Caponotus has kinda slow growth though because of their large body size.

I voted for Pheidole
