Drones are incapable of caring for themselves, let alone a queen.

Males are basically flying genetic material. They are incapable of surviving on their own and in most cases only live to mate, on one day, before dying.
If you enjoy my expertise and identifications, please do not put wild populations at risk of disease by releasing pet colonies. We are responsible to give our pets the best care we can manage for the rest of their lives.
Re: All male ant colony?
The male alates are not the ones that join the colony if they cannot go on nuptial flights. They either mate and die or don't mate and die. Their sole purpose is to fertilize a female alate. However, female alates who cannot go on nuptial flights, usually because they're being kept and in a formicarium and outworld, will eventually start carrying out tasks of normal workers.
