Question: Vibrations

I live in the ground floor apartment (I wish) and next to a main road in the city Heavy trucks and buses (ever 10 mins or so). The building itself is basically made of concrete blocks and redbrick on the outside and concrete floors. The road is only a few feet away.

Now the question I have to ask, should I get some sort of mat or dampener for the Formica/nest as the vibrations are negeble but they are there.

I don't feel the vibrations too often, but I'm not an ant either :).

Thanks, Damocles

Obviously, ants are a lot more sensitive than us large humans, but I doubt they'll see these vibrations as a threat, as they'll probably grow accustomed to it. If you're worried you could probably find something which would cushion the 'blows' for them, but I assume something as simple as a doormat would suffice

Just had an idea... You know those round patches of soft material you can put on the legs of chairs and tables so they won't damage the floor? Adding a couple of those to the underside of your setup would probably do the trick as well, and is more aesthetically pleasing than a mat of some sort.

oppss, didn't send the last reply hehe.

Yeah actually I have though about it, but they are only aesthete really. I'm looking and just a "mat" on the shelve and a heating cable and a thermostat controllor to keep it at a required level (20-25 deg C) and for hibernation I'll drop the heat (10-15 Deg C). I'm considering moving them (just their formicarium to a "better" place while in hibernating. S.till everything is subject to change heh
