I think it may be because Camponotus pennsylvanicus are bigger, stronger, seem to have bigger colonies when they reach maturity even though novaeboracensis grows faster. They also tend to raid more as they frequently destroy nearby lasius colonies. I have seen 5 camponotus pennsylvanicus majors destroy a ~200 worker lasius nest.

Don't worry, I don't mind. It's your choice if you want to believe me or not. I'm just saying that that is what I saw

Camponotus majors are very, very good at fighting other ants.
If you enjoy my expertise and identifications, please do not put wild populations at risk of disease by releasing pet colonies. We are responsible to give our pets the best care we can manage for the rest of their lives.

So are you agreeing that this is possible and I DID see it or are you saying that they are good but not that good?

Five tanks vs 200 infantry only armed with assault rifles? Seems like a fitting comparison.
Considering that 30 Giant hornets are capable of massacring a bee hive of 30000 workers in less than 3 hours, I wouldn't say it's impossible.

I would compare it like that excepy that the tanks are a lot faster than the infantry and that it is more like infantry with pistols

Really? A lot of the smaller ant species are faster than majors.Canadiananter wrote:I would compare it like that excepy that the tanks are a lot faster than the infantry and that it is more like infantry with pistols
