Catching a queen

I need help to catch a Camapnateus queen. I keep searching but I can't find one. Any advice?

Im not sure where you are situated but in my area camponotous queens are no longer flying. Maybe turning over some logs in the woods or looking in cracks and crevices in old stumps might be your best bet to find one. best of luck!

Where do you live? How do you live? (apartment, house) In a city? In the woods? In wich country?

I live in Michigan and I live in a suburban area.

Well, then It can't be that hard!?!?! Just keep on walking slowly on the whitest of sidewalks you have (because you spot them muuuuch easier on white backgrounds) and you will soon find one. I live in the middle of nowhere in sweden in the forest, and beleave me, I have no sidewalks at all, hardly a road..... And I have managed to catch 5 Queens! (kept only 2 because the others where social paracidic queens) And out here, its reeeeally hard to spot them, scinse there is no "white /bright" surface around, only moss and dirt... Dot loose hope, and if there is a rainstorm, try going out 1h after it because they usually have theis nuptial flight after a rainy day, and wait those 30 min after so they have time to get fertilized.

But social parasite queens are the bessssst. The one I found, the workers are super agressive, large, and spray formic acid! Also super cool looking. It's call ed formica ravida. Google them and look at any wiki!
