Hey guys, been watching the channel for a while and though id finally register on the forums since it was Nuptial flight time. Had a basic ant farm since January with around 50+ ants and only had about 5 deaths so they are still going strong. Pus been out and about the last two days catching queens. Caught 3 today and one yesterday but she had wings and was a little closer to a nest than I really liked. Resisted the urge to grab every one I saw as the conditions the last few days have been just right.

Lasius Niger, its just the common black ant for my region, we don't get many species around here. In saying that though I did see a particularly big major while hunting for queens that looked very similar though was a dark shade of green

Thought id update on the queens. Winged one is trying to get out so think ill release her. Two of the others i caught are already laying and tending eggs which I didnt expect so soon so let the palpitations commence
