Today my friend told me he had a lot of ants in his backyard because they're cuting down a tree, so I went, I found a whole colony of Camponotus consobrinus (Banded suger ant) tho no queen was spotted, I collected 5 virgin queens and 3 male, will they mate?

I'm not up on my Camponotus consobrinus mating activities, but ants in general do not mate in captivity. Nor do they even mate while in their birth colony in the ground. They mate during nuptial flight day(s), usually in the air.
