I've visited this thread a few times, and had imagined different locations at various occasions before realizing that there was none. :P

If she's actually 10mm long, then Camponotus nearcticus or C. caryae are more likely.

A view of the clypeus, on the front of the head, near the mandibles, would help confirm this. The measurement could just be off. Myrmentoma have a clypeal notch.
