Someone told me the screen on the AC portal was printed... Is this true? How can a 3d printed be fine enough?

The old version of the test tube portal was 3d printed, the test tube portal v2 is not anymore.

Having said that, I have a cheap 3D printer and I can print really high quality which would be more than enough to print the test tube portal.

he means the screen, not the general portal.

I don't believe the mesh is 3D printed. I bought some scratch and dent items that were not fully assembled and was sent a small sheet of the mesh to cut and glue to the items. It seemed to high quality to have been 3D printed and I don't think it would be very cost effective to 3D print that mesh either. I'm sure they have a supplier they order it through.

It could be printed as 3D printers can make "fabric" from hair thin lines, but it would be fragile I think so it's better to use some flexible pre made plastic mesh like the anti-mosquito one for example

Considering the screen appears to be glued into place I doubt it's 3D printed, I'll check mine a bit more closely when I get home
Also sorry for not reading OP properly :)

I could print that fine with my printer with a 0.4mm nozzle but as others have said I doubt it would be very strong so I suspect it's a sheet of mesh cut and glued in

I don't know how about you, but I can't work with all the toners, whatever it is, 3D or simply a plain text sheet. 3D printers depend a lot on the ink you use. For more than a year now, I've only been working with toner fromhttps://www.mrdepot.ca/products/samsung-SL-C460FW-toner because the rest I tried were simply inappropriate and not very high quality. At least mine doesn't end so quickly, and I manage to print all the papers I need. My boss gave me some new toners for Christmas. I tried them, but I had to keep them in the drawer for half a year to tell you honestly.

Not sure why people are talking about "toner" 3D printers don't use toner they use liquid resin or Plastic filiment.

To give you an idea of resolution a current "entry level" 3d Resin printer will have aa minimum of a 2K screen resolution which means it can print a 0.05mm resolution. so in theory you can print a grid where each hole is <0.05 to 0.1mm.

And higher end machine will run a 4K screen printing at half this resolution.

for filament printers the resolution is not quite as high but its still down to ~0.1mm

Both could easily print out the screen to the level of accuracy required. Like others have said it not 3D printed any more but it consumer grade 3D printers could easily achieve it without breaking sweat.

This is an issue with 3D printing and the community as a whole. We don't need to filament everything just because we have 3D printers (check details at https://printerhow.com).

I'm not knocking the OP, but this post is one of many examples of premature solution execution on this site.

Part of it def is. If you look at it closely where tubes are connected it seems 3d printing or layered.
