AC Ant Tower algae growing

Hello!

I've had a AC Ant Tower SMALL for almost 2 months now and just now for the first time decided to peel the red cover back and noticed the entire interior is GREEN with algae. Has anyone ever had this happen? Will my ants be okay? I thought I had been letting it dry out before I refill the reservoir but I guess I'll have to try to make sure it dries out. Is this my best course of action?

Any suggestions or information would really be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Thought I'd post a pic of it for reference.

I have expirianced this same thing and I was always wondering why and how to get rid of it, but just as it happens last night I was watching some serpadesign and appently if the soil of a Terrarium is watered frequently and doesn't have a drainage system then the soil will often become putrid and filled with stuff like this algae.

So while creating formicarium with soil it might be good to add some gravel at the bottom to drain out the system. But, I don't really know how to get rid of it after the formicarium is made. Thankfully I don't think the algae will harm your ants but, it is a sign of possibly, an unhealthy formicarium soil.

Also side note, when posting pics on this forum you need to upload them first on a website like Flickr or photobucket. Then you use the BBC code in between the image brackets. I you want to know more the forum Mod MadVampy made a video of how to do it a long time ago, but you should be able to find it pinned on either the announcments thing at the top of a subforum.
