Hi guys is this a crematogaster queen? Those were the best pics I could get. https://www.flickr.com/photos/135918947@N04/

Roughly 7mm to a cm. Found her in NYC. If she is crematogaster can I know about the care of this species and if clasutral or semi claustral.

Definitely Crematogaster, i would say Crematogaster cerasi. Fully clasustral, subfamily Myrmicinae. They have a postpediole and are one of my favorite species. Congradulations!!!

Its been a week and she still hasn't laid eggs. It's in the low 50s to high low 70s here now. Mostly in the 60s. Is she going into hibernation and will she lay eggs after winter is over? Thanks.

It takes a few weeks with Crematogaster, I have a colony myself so i know. The key is to be patient, she will most likely hibernate and you might have to change her test tube. She will lay eggs at the latest when the winter is over.

Either C.cerasi or C.lineolata. It is basically impossible to tell these two species apart unless you know what to look for and you have a really good microscope. The only other way to tell them apart is their preferred habitat. I believe one nests in the ground preferably in meadows, and the other likes to live in wood mostly in forests. I forget which likes which, but yeah.
