As it turns out, right outside my front door is a colony of ants. I'm unsure what species/breed. But after spending some time around them I found one who had larger body parts then its companians. Could someone tell me A) what species this is. {They appear a weird orange/redish black) and B) if what I caught is actually a queen (I know the pictures are bad but I can't get her to stay still.

Here are the pictures: http://imgur.com/6jQ9e84,h1ReECd

If you need more pictures let me know. Ill try to get some for you but I don't eant to bother her at the moment she's in a dark area of my home hopefully making a home for herself soon.

someone else may be able to call this one. but for me they are a bit too blurry. try and sneak a clear pic before she has eggs, if its a queen. little less stressful. :D

It looks to me like a species of wingless wasp. Can you tell me if it has elbowed antennae or not?

Well the "ants" came out of an anthill soooo. But either way, I'm not sure what you mean by this? could you explain further?

You are correct the "ant" I caught did turn out to be the wingless wasp you had posted about.

CAn you tell me anything about the creature I've caught? Is it a queen? The fellow "workers" around it seemed much smaller and would occasionally crowd around the queen as if protecting it. I'm not sure if this is a queen, but all body parts are of larger size then its fellow "workers"

Could you tell me more about this species?

I do not know anything about these, but maybe someone else does.
