Queen Ant ID
Looks like a Formica rufibarbis to me given the size of the 2 nanitics, but I added some stolen brood from a formcia sanguinea or rufa colony to be sure, what do you think?
Re: Queen Ant ID
I don't know why but the 2 of my posts merged together, these are obviously 2 different queens

Re: Queen Ant ID
Formica are often difficult to ID without a clear view of the hairs on their body. Does the second queen have any smaller cocoons with her? I fear those pupae are all reproductive caste.
If you enjoy my expertise and identifications, please do not put wild populations at risk of disease by releasing pet colonies. We are responsible to give our pets the best care we can manage for the rest of their lives.
Re: Queen Ant ID
I found the queen alone, they are all the same size except one much bigger and darker one on her left, I though it might be a major, but I guess it's an alate as you said. The other ones are smaller, you cannot see it so clear on that picture
