what species of ant is this

In my back yard there is this ant colony and I was wondering what species of ant it is(I live in Southern California) this ants don't sting, they enjoy sweets, and are mainly active when their in the shade or when it is night time. Thanks in advance.

Very difficult to tell from the photos. Could be Colobopsis?
