I would keep it down to a couple of times a week. My ants are all out in the open, so they don't really notice when I am looking at them.
If you enjoy my expertise and identifications, please do not put wild populations at risk of disease by releasing pet colonies. We are responsible to give our pets the best care we can manage for the rest of their lives.

I mean they aren't kept in the dark.

Don't they need the dark?

Yes they do. Queens found colonies in small dark spaces. They don't like the light. It stresses them out and makes them less successful.

Put them in the corner of a closet or a drawer. Somewhere they won't be disturbed.

Is this fluon? Is it appropriate for an ant barrier? Thank you!StormDancer wrote: ↑Fri Jun 22, 2018 6:50 amPut them in the corner of a closet or a drawer. Somewhere they won't be disturbed.

I honestly couldn't say if it is but I wouldn't take chances with your ants. Google fluon or insect slip and buy something labeled specifically for that. Anything else might potentially contain chemicals that could kill your colony.
