Re: ID Thread
She's not invicta, most likely Solenopsis xyloni or a closely-related species of xyloni.

it really Is up to you if you want to keep them .they grow fast but at the same time they of course sting and that can hurt I have heard with them fluon is needed as they love to climb and can climb on most plastics and glass . where I live if I wanted to I could catch 50 of them if you don't want to keep it since it is envasive I would kill it or give it to a friend who wants to keep them , I for one no matter the ant don't have the stomach to crush one so I don't catch them. Fire ants can be really awesome ants but are a little bit more difficult to keep than other ants if you get rid of her and still want a queen camponotus are flying and today I even found a tetramorium queen
Hope this helps

Re: ID Thread
Solenopsis invicta has eradicated the native S. xyloni everywhere east of Texas. Much of the distribution data was collected before S. invicta arrived.
