It's Camponotus, but C. pennsylvanicus is only found in Eastern North America.
Actually, C.Pennslvanicus can be found all over North America.
An ants' strength can be rivaled by few animals compared to relative body size.

Camponotus pennsylvanicus is only found east of the Rocky Mountains. The specimens west of there are likely misidentified Camponotus modoc.
If you enjoy my expertise and identifications, please do not put wild populations at risk of disease by releasing pet colonies. We are responsible to give our pets the best care we can manage for the rest of their lives.

The only sources which indicate that C. pennsylvanicus is found elsewhere are dubious, isolated records on maps, but every written resource says they are replaced by C. modoc west of the Rockies.
