Re: 8 Queens to Identify, help!
I only know that 1, 2, 4, 5, and 7 are of the Formica genus and 8 is of the genus Camponotus. I don't know what the species is. I doubt you're going to get an identification anytime soon on the AntsCanada forums because all our identifiers have been gone for awhile.

Re: 8 Queens to Identify, help!
Here is a breakdown of what has been found out so far. Anyone have any other ideas, or are any of the below definitely wrong? Any more pictures needed?
1) Formica Sp
2) Formica Sp OR Prenolepis Imparis
3) Myrmica Sp
4) Formica Sp
5) Formica Sp
6) Myrmica Sp. Dead - didn't know it was semi-claustral! .
7) Formica Sp
8) Camponotus Sp? (Modoc?)
#1 has laid a bunch more eggs.
#3 has started feeding her larva now that I am feeding her (semi-claustral). Larva are still moving so they are alive!
Any further help here would be much appreciated!

Re: 8 Queens to Identify, help!
It does look like it, however it is way too big! #1 is 13mm long, Winter ants are generally at most 9mm long.AngeredFlame850 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 08, 2018 8:17 pmWhoops I didn't mean to say prenolepis imparis for #2! I meant #1! Sry!
I also can't find a carpenter ant that looks like it. Its gotta be some sort of Formica, only ones that are that big (excluding camponotus) but I cant ID it properly.
Reply to the one saying # 3 was Novomessor. I live in Washington State, western side. There are no deserts here. It looks the same as # 6, caught them on the same day in the same area. So they should be Myrmica, however I cant ID the species of really any of my ants.
# 8 is either Modoc or pennsylvanicus. Cant tell for sure. I will get better pics of this one shortly
