Dear Ant Experts,
My son and I are complete newbies, so please bear with us! We've caught five queens, three large and two smaller, and we're not sure what species they are. We live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and all queens were caught late July and early August. We could use some help with identification. The following pictures show one of the three large (the three are obviously the same species) and both small queens. Sorry for the crappy quality of these photos! I do not have the professional photographic talent of AntsCanada. ;)
Thank you for any help you can give us. -Michelle & Dominic, The Newb Team

Queen A:
Approx. 15mm; head, thorax, & gaster all black

Queen B:
Approx. 11mm; head, thorax, & gaster all black
She still has her wings, but is laying eggs

Queen C:
Approx. 8-9mm; dark head and thorax, reddish brown gaster and legs
