I caught this on 8/22/17 (sorry for poor picture quality, I don't have a real camera on hand) About 2 - 4 mm
I know this isn't a queen, but I have never seen these ants in my area and today evening, I her running around near a play structure in a park, right next to a forest. I think it is lasius, and the flights are about to happen, so I would appreciate a response. Let me know if you want more pictures.

I think its Camponotus pennsylvanicus worker
With all the things ants can do, you wonder, who rules the planet :?

Keeper of:
Camponotus Pennsylvanicus
Pheidole sp.

Are you sure? I though camponotus had much smaller workers than that. If not lasius, maybe odorous house ants?

Probably Dorymyrmex sp., or possibly Liomeptum. Hard to tell from the one photograph.
If you enjoy my expertise and identifications, please do not put wild populations at risk of disease by releasing pet colonies. We are responsible to give our pets the best care we can manage for the rest of their lives.
