Hi guys,

I am new to ants and after watching a million videos I started looking more for queens and while I was watching my dogs in the yard, I found this crawling between the wood panels of my garden.

The first 2 pictures are from Sunday when I found her and the last one is from today, Thursday. I am pretty sure she is a queen now since the 2 grains of mini rice look like eggs

Is she a pavement ant? Tetrasomething?
I live in Quebec, Canada and I have a lot of small black/brown ants and ultra mini brown ants in my yard if that can help.

I now need to get myself test tubes before she needs to hibernate!

A few more pictures with a ruler. I made her a special chamber with 2 tubes of water so I can leave her alone longer and 2 access points for next year. Saw this setup on some website.











After 30 minutes she had already moved her 4 tiny eggs in I keep it covered so it stays dark.

No Camponotus chromaiodes that far north; Camponotus herculeanus.

I can't see a water source in the picture.

The 2 tubes without cotton balls are water tubes. She put her eggs between them.

Oh, okay. What's stopping the water from flowing out of the tubes if there's no cotton?
