New to this, first ant ever caught

Hi guys,

I am new to ants and after watching a million videos I started looking more for queens and while I was watching my dogs in the yard, I found this crawling between the wood panels of my garden.

The first 2 pictures are from Sunday when I found her and the last one is from today, Thursday. I am pretty sure she is a queen now since the 2 grains of mini rice look like eggs ;)

Is she a pavement ant? Tetrasomething?
I live in Quebec, Canada and I have a lot of small black/brown ants and ultra mini brown ants in my yard if that can help.

I now need to get myself test tubes before she needs to hibernate! :?

Definitely a camponotus sp. I am going to say camponotus chromaiodes :D
With all the things ants can do, you wonder, who rules the planet :?

A few more pictures with a ruler. I made her a special chamber with 2 tubes of water so I can leave her alone longer and 2 access points for next year. Saw this setup on some website.

After 30 minutes she had already moved her 4 tiny eggs in :D I keep it covered so it stays dark.

No Camponotus chromaiodes that far north; Camponotus herculeanus.
If you enjoy my expertise and identifications, please do not put wild populations at risk of disease by releasing pet colonies. We are responsible to give our pets the best care we can manage for the rest of their lives.

I can't see a water source in the picture.

The 2 tubes without cotton balls are water tubes. She put her eggs between them.

Oh, okay. What's stopping the water from flowing out of the tubes if there's no cotton?
