As of July 23 2017 at 8:45 pm. I have had this odd queen. I can't seem to id her. I'm here in Georgia just north of Atlanta and I found her when I was digging in my garden. She had already dug herself in and by mistake she was on my spade and now in a jar. She laid eggs almost the same day.

The pictures I know are of lesser quality but it's the best I can do
ATM.

Looks like Formica. We don't know how big your pinkie is.

Sometimes I am dumb, of course yall don't. Hmmm.... she is about as long as a penny is wide. Maybe a few millimeters shorter, but I tell you what she is way to bold and aggressive I would think to be a carpenter ant. Oh and her bottom or is it a thorax, is huge and tan and reddish brown. She has large mandibles but she is very shiny and not hairy

Looks like Formica from the pallidefulva group. Is that plastic stopper over the entrance of the test tube? If so, you might want to swap it out with cotton so that the airflow is a little better.

I will swap it out asap. Thank you! I appreciate the advice and I'm going to start research those. Are you an entomologist?
