Next ime, take one from above ;)

But I (live in sweden) And I would say it's a formica sp. could be rufa, so its a paracidic ant species, which means it can't build an ant colony on its own, it needs a host colony (you could research about it and try, but when I cought 2 of them, I just realized how much extra effort it was and went looking for normal queens)

If you do research and decide that you maybie want to try, look for "social paracidic ant"

GL!

Looks like a Camponotus. Shots from the side are best.

Thanks you both. There is a new photo from above. I could not manage to take one from side (bad focus on phone).

There is a visible red mark on her thorax.

Could it be Formica rufibarbis?
I found pic with matching markings on thorax.

Definitely could be. Use antmaps.org to see if they live in your area though just to make sure.
EDIT: I checked, you guys have that, so will assume it is Formica rufibarbis.

Thank you very much.
Now I need to do more reading on formica ants.. And probably find some workers for her.

That is a really cool species, with that red and black dots on its thorax! I dont know if its a paracidic species, so it might not need workers.... Could be, but I assume you know cause you said you should go looking for some! Nice find!

Aha, I assumed from your first post, that all formica are paracidic. I will check if rufibarbis is or is not.
thank you :-)
