About 2 mm. Found just today on the ground near some grass. This ant looks a lot like all the dozens of ant colonies near me so I was wondering what species they are and if I can possibly dig up the established colonies near me to get at the queen. The one I took a picture of died today so it's probably not a queen. These ants more really fast, faster than any other ant I have see before

Lasius and Brachymyrmex are more likely. Camponotus are not this small.

Can you get an image of the tip of the gaster?
