Hi forum members and experts,

I'm from Nova Scotia, Canada and new to the hobby. I have three queens, all Componotus I believe. I'm not sure of the exact species though. I recently asked some questions on queens and their brood and Aqua suggested I throw up some pics for identification. They're not the clearest. Thorax is a deep burgundy and head and gastor are black.

Hope these upload okay.

Thanks

PS: Argh.... what a headache trying to upload photos :(

She's 13-15mm. Caught in Early/Mid June. Midday. Kentville, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Hope you can see the images and I hope you can help.

Much thanks.

This is definitely Camponotus, Im thinking novaeboracensis or herculeanus.

Hello, welcome to the hobby! You live pretty close to me, I'm just in North Dakota. We have many of the same species of ants since we live so close together. Good luck anting! (And sorry I don't know what species of ant she is, I just joined like 2-3 weeks ago)
Ball is life... Ants included.
