New Queen-need ID...
I really hope this one photo is enough but this queen is 3mm...well, roughly 3.5mm. I caught her with my blacklight setup along with a couple of Pheidole queens about a week ago. You can see she already has a small batch of eggs ...

Re: New Queen-need ID...
It has been 2 days since I made this post so I'm guessing no one has an idea on what species this is. I'm just doing this to bump it up just in case it got overlooked. I can try to get more pictures if needed but this was the best I got in the amount of time I had her out. I don't like stressing my Queens out too much.

Stenamma sp. Basically like a miniature Myrmica, she's semi-claustral.

Just curious what does your blacklight setup look like? I am trying to make one but so far the one I made has not caught anything.

Re: New Queen-need ID...
I basically have a 24-inch blacklight set up around my back door for easy access. Then I have a sheet that I have set up in front of it that way the black light shines on the sheet Illuminating it. It's just something simple that I set up in my backyard kinda but also easy to access from My Backdoor.

I don't agree with Stenamma. More pictures, please? Three is a good number.

I was a bit iffy with that myself. May I ask what dissuade you from it? They look similar to my Stenamma, which look like this:Batspiderfish wrote: ↑Mon Jun 12, 2017 9:06 pmI don't agree with Stenamma. More pictures, please? Three is a good number.

The length of the first petiole looks kind of normal, but it's only one picture. I wouldn't compare that to an undershot, which are very rarely useful.

Ya, this is an undershot. The worker up top was what I was looking at but she's out of focus.

Re: New Queen-need ID...
I kind of figured I would need a couple more pictures. I'll do my best and see what I can get tonight when I get home. It's been like four or five days since I have checked on them so I'm sure me checking on them for a couple minutes tonight won't stress them out too much. And I mean them as this queen and a few other different Queens I have in my test tube racks. Only have one of this girl
