I'm telling you, those brown stripes on the gaster are the exact same as my Iridomyrmyx queens, also this species have been flying in Australia the past few weeks.
This is one of my queens.

Trust me as an Australian Antkeeper. Even so, perhaps we should wait until another opinion posts on the thread.
Congrats pal, they're a great ant to keep.MajorMadness wrote: ↑Sun May 28, 2017 5:38 amThanks for all your responses everyone. It looks pretty much bang on as your picture JackPayne, same with the other two I caught. They all seem happily laying their first few eggs, so I'm on the road to them growing their first workers! I shall continue researching Iridomyrmex!
Iridomyrmex or maybe something like Lasius?MajorMadness wrote: ↑Sat May 27, 2017 8:17 amHello, first post here and also my first queen catches! about a week ago i got home from uni to see hundreds of queens on my driveway. I got what things i could to keep the safely and just watched them for ages, eventually picking 3 that seemed cool.
Here are the best pics i could get, it took a while for me to get them since my camera isn't great.
Thanks for any responses!
