I'm definitely looking forward to the rains. I bought the AntsCanada Omni nest large for my first colony and it came in the mail today. I was getting geeked up about it and decided to check my queen only to find out she'd died. So now I'll have to get another one when the rains finally come back.
Oh man. Sorry to hear that☚ī¸. Maybe she wasn't fertile or sometimes they just don't make it. Like I said before, if you need a queen just contact me and I'll give it for $10 at most (for the expenses in caring for her and some food and supplies). Like I said, I have Brachymyrmex patagonicus that are really easy to keep. And if your up for the challenge I have an extra fire ant queen that almost has workers. I just transferred her to a new test tube as the old one was moldy. And if I find any queens I will try and get extra. Hope you find them where you live though!👍

Thank you, that's very generous considering what I've seen them cost.

What town in south Florida are you in?

We had a bit of rain here but no luck looking for a queen. The most I've seen is fire ants carrying dead queens back to their nest. I'm interested in the fire ant queen if it turns out not to be too far if a drive.😀
