Caught pair of these a few nights ago. I feel like she's already darkened a bit in color to a deeper maroon. I tried to Id her myself but wasn't very successful. Any help would be awesome. Thanks!

The site gives a 404 error. Also, do you have measurements?

Yeah I was trying to use the image tags but it won't let me edit my post anymore.

I'll try to get measurements in a day or so. I just moved her to a new drier test tubes and I don't want to disturb her egg laying. She's fairly large though. I'd guess around 6-8mm.

There are multiple species of Camponotus with that coloration. I would use a key to ID her.

How do I go about getting a key? Is there a website?

http://antwiki.org has a few that can help you. Look up "Camponotus North America" and you should find one.

http://antmaps.org and http://antweb.org both will help you determine what's in California. For antweb, click on Georegions, then North America, then the US, and finally California.
