Hello, i live in the united states, Indianapolis Indiana with a queen? caught on 3/27/17 around 1 pm. Location: on a pool cover. Using mm is kind of difficult over here where we use inches, but i think she was around 4mm in length if that sounds right. Her gaster is quite small, which leads me to believe that she is semi-claustrual, that could be a hint. I am positive that she is a queen due to the scar like holes seen on her mesosoma. Thank you for any help!

Hello! Glad to see more people from Indiana! I believe that she is a Myrmica queen. She is semi claustral and requires protein and sugar before her workers.

I also though that she was a myrmica queen, but my calendar says that myrmica queens fly during august through november.

It is possible she was either foraging on or nesting in said pool cover.
