Help my 8 year old because I can't

We THINK we finally caught our first queen ant. My daughter is so fascinated with antkeeping and we are both trying to learn everything. But I have zero knowledge and doubt everything I do when it comes to this! Please help. Is this ant even a queen?
Size: 12 mm-ish
When: June 26, 2023 around 8 pm
Where: near Fort Worth, TX
Appearance: see pic. Sorry, I'm no help!
Behaviour: She was so fast and hard to catch. Seems interested in the dry cotton in her tube more than anything. Docile and slow once in tube. The other evening I saw her cleaning her gaster. Haven't really seen her do it since.

She is not a queen. Its one of those wingless wasps.

Yeah she is definitely NOT a queen.
Better luck finding an actual queen. When you do, you can ask as many questions as you like and we'll all surely help you and your daughter create a big colony :D
