Hello!

Sorry to be back again so soon, but I hit the jack pot!

Last night at work, I work the graveyard shift at a gas station, I managed to collect a great many queens, I'm hoping at least some of them are gravid. :D

I'm thinking that all the large-ish black ones are Pavement Ants, but confirmation would be great. ^^

Size: 6-7mm
When: 12 am
Where: Urban area, inside gas station
Appearance: Black wings, orange body, squarish head, orange legs, no visible stinger, 1 petiole spike
Behaviour: Settled on the dry cotton
Picture(s):

Additionally: N/A

I'mn actually not sure if this is some kind of wasp or not.

Size: 4-5 mm
When: 3 am
Where: Urban area, inside gas station
Appearance: yellow-orange, long gaster, no wings, small roundish head, one petiole spike, no stinger
Behaviour: Seems to be having a lot of difficulty, is not settling down having trouble walking or staing upright
Picture(s):

Additionally: <Please add anything that you think is important to mention>

Im not sure these are ants either, they seem to be flies, but like queen ants they aren't flying around and are pretty settled in the test tube.

Size: 2-3 mm
When: 4 am
Where: Urban area, inside gas station
Appearance: small, black, long antenna,
Behaviour:
Picture(s): N/A atm
Additionally: <Please add anything that you think is important to mention>

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I mostly want to know if these ones are pavement ants.
Currently, I ran out of tubes, I havbe a few grouped together, if they are I will get emnergency flower pipettes and order more test tubes.

Size: 5-6 mm
When: 4-5:30 am
Where: Urban area, inside gas station and outside gas staion on sidewalk
Appearance: Black, clear wings, 2 petiloe round segments, Shiney, round head
Behaviour: All have calmed down and have settled either by the water cotton or the dry cotton

Additionally: There were a large amount of these ones.

First ones are a parasitic Lasius species, the second one is Tetramorium immigrans.
Why keep ants that aren't found in your yard?
There are so many fascinating ants right where you live!
I disagree with the keeping/buying of ants that aren't in your area.

Ah shucks, thats a shame.
I Would try to keep it if I had a young colony/spare colony.

But the recenelty caught Tapinoma Sessile is the only one.
And the young Tetramorium Immigrans don't have any workers yet.

Thanks for comfirmation on the pavement ants!
//crosses finger//
There were also several males that got mixed in when I was pickign them up so wth any luck several of them are grvid. ^^
I have already ordered more tubes, and spare flower vials and experiment tubes for backups/temporary.

They will only parasitize other non-parasitic Lasius species, and its really hard.

Its good you bought more test tubes, as Tetramorium immigrans are really fast growers. I would suggest keeping them in some sort of tubs and tubes method.
