Found this Ant queen in the State of Georgia in the middle of the state.
I’ve asked on another forum and they believe it is a aphaenogastor but not sure what species it is. And I was wondering if it is native to my area
Sorry the pictures are not best quality but
Here’s the link. She’s in the test tube
https://photos.app.goo.gl/UxG3JV3NrGjQ1EtV7
She’s a little bigger than fire ant queens
Has a reddish/black thorax with a yellowish gaster
Legs seem to be long
Also if anyone has any recommendations on taking care of this queen would greatly appreciate it.
In advance thanks for the help

Re: Help ID queen ant in GA
She is from the fulva-rudis species group of the genus Aphaenogaster. Here is a bit of taxonomic information about this species group: https://www.antwiki.org/wiki/Fulva-rudis-texana_complexKingPrawn wrote: ↑Sat Jun 24, 2023 2:22 pmFound this Ant queen in the State of Georgia in the middle of the state.

Why keep ants that aren't found in your yard?
There are so many fascinating ants right where you live!
I disagree with the keeping/buying of ants that aren't in your area.
