Size: 8-9 mm
When: 1pm on 6/16/23
Where: under a rock on a small island in a river(soil was very moist, in a very wooded forest. In pine valley Utah
Appearance: dark brown with light brown almost cream white rings around her. Very large abdomen which the underside of seems to be very sticky as she has a lot of trouble moving around almost seems like her abdomen is getting stuck to the Tube.
Behaviour: her and her few workers were very frantic at first but have since calmed she has started to lay eggs and has a pretty large pile now. The works are pulling at the dry side cotton now.
Picture(s): https://imgur.com/a/lMrLePD
Additionally: I flipped over a rock looking for earthworms and found a large colony the queen was just hanging out the middle so I grabbed her and a few workers

Could you get some photos from different angles.
Why keep ants that aren't found in your yard?
There are so many fascinating ants right where you live!
I disagree with the keeping/buying of ants that aren't in your area.

Is there any way you could get clearer photos?

Alright, those are good enough. She is a Lasius species.
