identify queen
is this a Solenopsis invicta queen? Found in north carolina. unclear what species it is. photo taken with iPhone through a 10x loupe. some eggs are now present. not sure what other information would be useful. new to this hobby and have really learned a lot on this site and via the handbook. thanks.

Great thanks for the help. Any particular clues to look for to delineate?

Re: identify queen
yes this was found in the US in north carolina. it does look remarkably similar to Formica cinerea on a side by side comparison!
Re: identify queen
I would say Formica as well. I have a few queens that look very similar.

Formica subsericea, possibly F. fusca. It is hard to tell at that angle.
